Sirnica or pinca – traditional Easter bread from Croatia
In Dalmatia it is called sirnica, in Istria, Kvarner and the Croatian Littoral pinca – the same sweet Easter bread. The soft, airy yeast dough with eggs, butter and sugar has a golden crumb; traditionally it is flavoured with lemon, orange or vanilla and sprinkled with pearl sugar.
At Easter it sits on the Croatian holiday table, traditionally next to ham and boiled eggs, and it is just as nice with breakfast or coffee.
